i spent this lovely father's day in my aunts pool in this 95 degree weather, read the second book of the True Blood series (they're addicting!), spent lunch with my boyfriend and his family, spent dinner with my family, watched When In Rome with my sisters (not that great, it's decent), and then spent the last few hours of the night laying out on my driveway with my boyfriend just talking and staring up at the stars. GOOD DAY.

my dad, on the other hand, spent his day working on fixing the speakers in his truck. (he chose this)

we didn't even begin to try and tell him he couldn't. it is father's day, after all.

i'm SUPER excited for this post, guys!!

today was a super gloomy day full of non-stop rain, and so having no job i was stuck inside (with countless and countlessss hourssss of nothingg to doooo). while wasting away these so-called countless hours i had, i had a great idea to have a DIY day. for the longest time i've been entranced by the statement necklaces being featured all over the place--especially the "bib necklaces." if you aren't sure what they are, they are exactly what they sound like: a baby's bib. but in necklace form for adults! anyway, knowing i had the whole day to do whatever i wanted, i decided today would be the best day for experimentationnn! (that might have sounded much like a mad scientist might have said it, but i'll leave it to you to decide the tone)

here were my results of trying out my own bib necklaces. i hope you enjoy!

it's always exciting being able to make new purchases when you don't have a job. I've not been working for quite some time becuase and generally can't buy anything new because of my lack of income, so it's exciting when I realize I can make a purchase (thanks to sales!) - starting with this tank.

the other day my roommate, and one of my best friends, was in the school's show Tartuffe.

If you don't know of it, you should really find a time to see it--it's witty, comical, and set in a time far in the past. she performed amazing! yet, as the show went on I was on the back side--there weren't enough people to help out and so my roommate asked me to usher. and of course i did. I was told to just wear something nice and appropriate. well. that tells me a lot, huh? this i what i wanted to wear:

so behind my blinds I can see the sun shining intensely. it's that perfect time of day when everything within the sun's view becomes a golden color. It looks so warm and inviting.

AND IT'S NOT THAT AT ALL. in fact, it's cold and UN-inviting. I went outside expecting beautiful weather, and in doing so learned I am easily fooled. nevertheless, I still took to the day with a positive attitude and went along my way!

I should've taken a close up photo of this vest; it's sooo beautiful.

There are multiple deep gold buttons, making it resemble a military style jacket and the fabric is overlapped in the front, creating a shape that not only creates dimension, but follows the shape of your body. very cool.

THESE heels. I've been staring at them for days now, unwilling to cash out $99.99 for these suckers. BUT UPON LOOKING FOR A DIFFERENT, NUDE HEEL . . . I passed these very same pour la victoire heels elsewhere and found the other stores are running them for $130-$160!!!
SO I THINK I SHOULD GET THEM!!!

reason being?
--nude heels are the perfect calm, slightly eccentric (but still classy) hint to an outfit, to allow whatever the clothing may be to take center stage.
--they're awesome
--they're CRAZY on sale.
--they're awesome.
--they're beautiful
--they're just too awesome!
--and i can already think of outfits for them! I have a long sleeved black mini dress that would pair great with these heels . . . put on some sheer black tights. come on, ya following me?

i ordered three, but only two came in (the last one being a white version of these, but with a pocket). that really grinds my gears, because who knows when the other one will come in!

anyway, I just returned from helping the boyfriend move stuff back into his house for school and did a crud ton of yardwork. not many photogenic moments--just picking weeds, making concrete, watering things, etc. aaron DID manage to get one photo of me, tho. (my parrot bay and sprite mixture really hit me at once) just imagine me taking my cup and just leaving it on the top of my head . . . i guess i got tired of holding it? haha.

yes, yes, I chose to indulge in the white jean movement. i was unsure at first because my thighs are awkwardly large for my body proportion, but I've learned how to hide that! :)
I'm happy I put the money into them (i spent more than i had planned), because i've found a couple outfits so far that I feel work really well with them. As the title says, this is only PART 1. I took a couple photos of another outfit and plan on putting those up tomorrow . . . most likely . . .

I figured if I felt the outfit needed color, i'd do it through my sunglasses for now. they're a BRIGHT green, but my camera only likes mood lighting or something. so just pretend ;)

2. it's a gloomy day here in my hometown. and it's summer. and i don't like it!

3. the above photos were taken with my new camera :))) . . . . for photos that require a lot of detail, such as these, the camera is no the best. BUT. I still absolutely love it and may continue to use it for these photos even if they aren't high quality photos. i still like the way they come out!

but back to the floating business.

For all those who have never gone on a float trip, those being coast-dwellers (I'm assuming), have got to come to the midwest once in their life and go "floating"!!!Once my boyfriend was having a conversation with a california boy about float trips because he had never even heard of it. ((I understood where he came from, I once lived there so his response isn't that surprising to me))

CONVERSATION GOES AS FOLLOWS::

aaron: dude you have to go on a float trip sometime

cali boy: ummmm what's a float trip?

aaron: it's when you get a bunch of people together and get a raft, or a canoe, and just float down a river.

cali boy: that doesn't sound fun AT ALL.

hahaha. it totally is. generally it gets interesting when alcohol is involved ((which is normal)). Even if there wasn't anything to really bring out the crazy in everybody, it's still an awesome experience--to see the beauty in nature, to have quality time with friends, spending time in water AND not working . . . go do itttttt!!!!!!

i'm sorry this post barely has any relevance to style, but it's late, i'm waking up at 5:30 am, packing by noon, and then sitting in a car for 2 1/2 hours. so. i really need me some sleep. :)

i finally get to say aaron and i have been together OFFICIALLY for a year. so many people ask and i always say "almost a year" or "it'll be a year in . . ." it feels like much longer, tho. probably because we've been hanging out together much longer. aahh imagine that . . . something seeming longer because it actually is.

i've just had a reallyyyyyyyyyyy busy weekend, especially with it being the weekend of the 4th--can't expect much from americans to be "on top of their game" at this time ;)

one of the things i partook in this weekend was DIY business. it gives life to the old. i love it.

i KNOW you've all seen the photo of the studded jean pocket. oh yeah.

you know you have :) well I took it upon myself to indulge on the diy experience that many others have done. you will see I did not cover nearly as much area, nor did i use all of the same stud--BUT i am still very pleased with the outcome (and to add i was just using the extra studs from diy-ing my ankle boots (which i will show them on another daayyyy)). it's time to show them. sharing is caring:

normally i wouldn't add a photo of a close up of my ass, but a closer look was needed.
and i can't wait to wear them officially! with black tights or leggings, add some boots . . .
it's funny how one little change in a wardrobe can bring on an attitude only experienced from buying NEW clothes. like i said in the last blog, it's too exciting!

The legend of Michael Jackson will forever remain.
Many will remember him for varying reasons---and even the worst of them can't forget his creative genius when it came to style and music.

Farrah's cancer story isn't much of a different one.
She may not be receiving the attention she deserves at this moment, but with a brief moment of reflecting back we realize she was a success--she was a great person, definitely kept some generations tuned in, and a beauiful woman.
We were blessed to have her in "our households" and we can only hope that her, Michael, AND Ed are all keeping those folk in heaven just as entranced as we were/are.

I chose the gold heels because the piece of interest is the dress, so by following the "analogous color" view (it's an art thing) your eyes will be drawn to the areas of contrasting, or at least differing, colors.

Lately I've been looking around and have been inspired by many blogs recently viewed, ESPECIALLY fashion blogs.
so I am opening up to the blogging experience and sharing my life and my clothes with all of you.

I bought THIS dress a few weeks back from wet seal. i wanna wear it. BAD. but here's my problem:
-I live in a little po dunk town in the midwest.
-my town is full of staunch republicans. and my only issue with this is that if you're different, you're looked down on. If you don't support america non-stop, if you don't like country, if you don't wear boots, you are overall going to be disliked. You can't just appreciate fashion and get away with it.
. . . maybe I just need to grow some balls and just ignore all that. :)

anywho. here's what i've done with it.
